Useful Tips in Using Coursepath
Drag-and-drop pages when editing
The most loved feature by trainers in Coursepath!
When creating a course and you are in edit mode, you can “drag and drop steps/pages” and drag them across modules as well, which makes course creation really easy, fast and dynamic.
In order to drag pages across modules, please make sure each module has at least one page.
Changing frequency of e-mail updates and notifications
The system default frequency is set to one email update and notification for every 4 hours. As a participants of a course you will receive email updates and notifications when someone has started a discussion, posted a comment, responded to your comment or when you receive a private message. Trainers of course receive more notifications about course progress.
To change the frequency of the email updates and notifications, simply go to your profile > click "Edit profile"
Scroll down the page and go to "How often would you like to receive email updates and notifications?" > then click the drop down menu > choose the frequency you prefer.
Every participant can set the frequency individually.
Sending private messages
The “Discussions” tab feature is primarily used to start a new or separate discussion in the course, but you can also send private messages here. To send a private message to your trainer or someone in the course, just click on the green button “+Post a new message”.
Then click on the “To: All” located below the page > after which you choose the individual you want to sent the private message to.
All private messages will appear in the Discussions tab in a blue and white envelop icon (see above example). You can further respond to the person simply by replying under comments. This is similar to a chat function.
You will receive an e-mail notification for the private messages as well.
Adding a survey for non-scorable questions
To add this into a page simply tick the box - "This is a survey question (without a right or wrong answer)". The question will not be scored and will therefore not appear as well in the results reporting page. You can use this for Q&A, as a test exercise and of course for survey and evaluation purposes.
Uploading document for viewing
You can upload a PDF, PPT, DOC document into a page in 2 ways:
- As Document Viewer – the document will be embedded into the page and directly viewed online.
- As Attachment which can also be previewed.
Both documents are downloadable. If you do not want your PPT and PDF files to be downloadable, simply convert the document into a course.
View and download reports
You can view and download reports for your entire academy, per course and for each individual.
Quiz hints and feedback
When creating tests, you can make use of the feedback and the general feedback feature options. See example below:
Disabling collaboration and other menus
Should you prefer a straightforward learning environment without collaboration (such as no Comments on every page and no Discussions), you can do this by going into the course > click on Settings > click on Options > scroll down to Menu options and un-tick the desired menu box(es).
You can also further disable other tab menus such as Calendar and Members. Please take note that when you disable Members, participants in a course will not be able to see other participant's profiles.
Social media sharing and course banners
You can find the social media sharing buttons of each course and the course banner options on the Info page (the little i beside the name of the course) or below the table of contents (click Home).
Please make sure though that the enrollment of the course is on public settings. Please go to settings > options > enrollment > tick By invitation or using the "enroll" button - everyone on the web
For the banners, click on the last button and then click on "show options". We provide 2 banner options: a square banner and a rectangular banner. Just copy the code and embed this into your website, portal, intranet or share and promote in social media sites.
Shuffle quiz choices
There is no way to guarantee that your participants are cheating and passing on answers to others in the course.
Shuffling the choices of answers in a quiz however helps trainers in maximizing course's quiz security, allowing for a factual, accurate and transparent training and exam.
To do this, simply scroll down the page where you have added the question and you will "Options".
Under options, check the Shuffle choices box. That easy!
